EXPLORE LEWISBURG


You don’t have to spend long in West Virginia to understand why it’s called “Almost Heaven”. The natural beauty surrounds you. And the charm is something you’ll discover the moment you greet a local.

Lewisburg was voted “The Coolest Small Town in America,” for many good reasons.

The roots of Lewisburg date back to pre-Revolution days when it served as an outpost during the French and Indian War. It was named for Colonel Andrew Lewis, whose militia defeated Chief Cornstalk in 1774. Several buildings around town date back to the 1700s.

The charm of Lewisburg attracts artists and artisans of all kinds, who share their crafts and wares throughout this historic little town. You won’t see any fast-food chains in this beautiful burg. Instead, you’ll find an assortment of quaint and fascinating cafes and shops that provide a delightful escape from the corporate big box stores.  

Lewisburg is also home to one of only four Carnegie Halls in the United States. In 1902, the famous industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie built and dedicated this beautiful Greek Revival building to the people of Lewisburg. Today, Carnegie Hall showcases entertainment and cultural treasures from all over. You’ll also find theaters, art galleries, antique stores, and much more.

If you’re a history buff, stop by the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, which has a been a mainstay of Lewisburg history since the 1800s. The church cemetery is the resting place for soldiers from from the Battle of Lewisburg, following the battle of 1862.
